Have you started your treatment with aligners, or are you searching for how to complete it during the COVID-19 pandemic? There is no need to fret; we are here for you.
We have put together everything you need to know about aligning your teeth with Invisalign clear braces from start to finish. Take a seat; our information will offer you great peace of mind for the treatment during this period.
However, before we go down to that, let us list some of the problems patients commonly encounter and how you can solve them.
The aligners rub or dig in
This is pretty common. If you face this problem, go back to wearing your previous aligners for a few days. After that, you can go over to the next one. Next, contact your orthodontist for an immediate solution.
- The aligners misfits
There are two solutions to this problem. The first: use a nail file to file down the part of the tray popping out. Alternatively, you can apply some orthodontic wax on it.
Your attachment falls off
If you lose one or more attachment, continue with your treatment, but tell us about it so that we can take note.
Starting the treatment
The first step to getting the treatment is going to your dentist. The dentist will take impressions of your teeth and send them over to the lab where your aligners will be moulded. You will see the current look of your teeth and how it will be after the treatment is over with the use of 3D technology. After this stage, you will be offered the aligners, and you will commence your treatment.
However, this is the process we followed before the lockdown. Now that the pandemic is here, we advise all our patients that are currently on the treatment to continue. For those that we took their impressions but didn’t deliver the braces, we encourage you to wait until we reopen. It is not right to send the braces through the post as the orthodontist will need to check them and personally fit them on you.
After fitting the aligners but before placing the attachments
You will start getting your attachments on the third set of trays. So, we encourage you to follow the designed course of treatment (by wearing the first two sets for one or two weeks each) before getting to the next stage. After this, contact us so that we get the attachments and further advice for you.
During the treatment
At this point, you should be used to your aligners and know how to get through with them. Continue wearing the aligners as recommended and change them according to the prescription. Always ensure you make your teeth ready for the next set of aligners before putting them on.
End of treatment
When you start using the last aligner in the prescribed series, continue wearing the previous trays. They will act as retainers for the time being while you contact us. This is because we will not be able to remove the attachments until the government lifts the current restriction and we reopen the practice.
We are very much available to take your queries and provide solutions for them. Why don’t you contact us and find peace during this trying time? We are always here for you.
